Playoff Tournament | Winter 2012

The road the Final Four was tough and full of competitive play. After a thirteen week season and
two rounds of playoffs the Fog City had only four teams remaining.

The Final Four this season consisted of all the top seeds. The Squad defeated the number one
overall seed, Blackstar Golden Hops with a double digit win. Later that night the Scrappy Vets defeated
the Great White Hypes in a gritty low scoring game. The final game was set for the following night with
the 4 seeded Squad taking on the 2 seeded Scrappy Vets.

The night started out with a bang when the consolation game turned out to be a thriller. Taylos
Butler of the Great White Hypes hit a running three pointer from just over half court with no time
remaining to earn his team a 3rd place finish. The Great White Hypes finished the game with a 60 – 57
victory over The Golden Hops.

The Championship game tipped off at 8:00 and it was intense right from the get go. The
Scrappy Vets lived up to their name playing great defense and team ball throughout. Every play had
championship written all over it. The Squad met their intensity and added some height and athleticism.
Big man Neil Collins was grabbing boards and dominating the paint while Team Captain Chris Solomon
was leading his team offensively. Mark Campbell and Stephin Roberts brought some real energy on
both sides of the court while adding some crucial buckets down the stretch. London Whithead, Jeremy
Vukasinovic brought the defense while Angelo Dejesus stretched the floor with his ability to knock down
the 3-ball.

In the end the talent of the Squad was too much for the hustle and grit of the Scrappy Vets who
put a valiant effort in the championship game and every other game this season. Congratulations to The
Squad who were crowned champions of the Fog City Basketball Winter 2012 season with a tough 48 –
43 win over the Scrappy Vets.
